Chateau La Louviere Rouge is a red wine produced by the renowned Chateau La Louviere estate, located in the prestigious appellation of Pessac-Léognan, within the Bordeaux region, France. This estate is famous for its high-quality wines, which combine tradition and innovation, reflecting the uniqueness of the Pessac-Léognan terroir.

Chateau La Louviere Rouge is the result of a careful blend of typical Bordeaux varietals, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with possible additions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This selection of grapes gives the wine structure, complexity and remarkable aging potential. The vinification and refinement in French oak barriques, some of which are new, enrich the aromatic profile of the wine with elegant notes of spices, toasting and vanilla, without overpowering the fruity intensity and natural freshness of the grapes.

To the eye, Chateau La Louviere Rouge shows a deep and inviting ruby red color. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits emerge, such as cassis, cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of aromatic herbs, chocolate and a delicate mineral note, typical of the Pessac-Léognan soil. These scents blend harmoniously with the woody and spicy notes resulting from aging in wood.

In the mouth, the wine demonstrates extraordinary elegance and balance. The tannins are ripe and velvety, well integrated with the acidity, which gives the wine liveliness and a long aromatic persistence. The finish is long and complex, with a return of fruity and spicy notes perceptible on the nose.

Ideal in combination with red meats, game, mushroom-based dishes and mature cheeses, Chateau La Louviere Rouge is a wine that enhances the table with its aromatic richness and refined structure, representing an excellent choice for special occasions or to be placed in a cellar as an aging specimen.

Winery history
The earliest records of the estate date back to 1310. The property developed between the 16th and 17th centuries and later passed into the hands of various owners. The current building dates from the late 18th century. After a period of decline in the 20th century, Château La Louvière was purchased by André Lurton in 1965, leading to a revival of its winemaking activity; the property was listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments and classified in 1991. In 2009 a new partially underground cellar dedicated to the aging of red wines was opened.

Terroir and vineyards
Located in the commune of Léognan, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the vineyard rests on deep gravelly soils for the parcels planted with red varieties and on more varied soils for the parcels dedicated to whites. Its proximity to Bordeaux and the range of soil types favour both dry whites and structured reds.
