Tenuta Santini was born in the 60s by the brothers Giuseppe and Primo Santini, who are dedicated to the recovery of the ancient traditional winemaking techniques with a patrimony available of about 28 hectares, of which 7 are vineyards.
The vines are cultivated in the countryside of Coriano, at an altitude of 100 m a.s.l., with the spurred cordon training technique, on clayey soils with south-east exposure. The harvest is carried out towards the beginning of September, the alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with aging for 12 months in wooden barrels and about 6 months in the bottle.
Its name comes from the giant hunter that Jupiter transformed into the constellation of the same name. Orione shows itself in all its elegance, even in its consistent ruby red color. On the nose, the scent of sour cherry that runs after small fruits, including currants and gooseberries, rises. A full and ample sip, two properties that chase each other in a full-bodied finish.
A Sangiovese of great character, perfect to combine with first courses seasoned with meat sauce or to sip in combination with a mixed grill of meat. Excellent with game and aged cheeses.
