Sangiovese Colombarone was the first production of Tenuta La Viola. Like all the wines of this winery, it owes its name to an element of the city of Bertinoro, the place where the company is located. More specifically, the Colombarone takes its name from the homonymous road that connects the plain to the hills of Bertinoro. Tenuta la Viola produces this Sangiovese using its medium-aged vines. The dark berries are fermented in steel tanks, then they are matured partly in steel and partly in used barriques and tonneaux for 6 months. Finally, the wine is left to refine in the bottle for another 6 months.

The intense ruby red of the Colombarone can already be seen through the bottle, while once in the glass the violet nuances can also be seen. Notes of cherry, violet and spices arrive immediately on the nose. On the other hand, it is rich, full-bodied and lively on the palate.

This Sangiovese can be enjoyed with meat dishes and mature cheeses.
