Tenuta la Viola is a winery located in the hills overlooking the Adriatic Sea of Bertinoro. This area enjoys exceptional characteristics both in terms of climate and soil, which give rise to excellent quality wines. In fact, the climate is characterized by daily light breezes, while the soil is clayey, rich in limestone and ancient marine sediments. Oddone is a Sangiovese that perfectly represents the winemaking tradition of Emilia Romagna. This wine owes its name to a character from Bertinoro from the 11th century, who loved wine and lightheartedness. Oddone is made thanks to a vinification in steel tanks and a subsequent refinement in the bottle for 3 months.

Like all Sangiovese, Oddone also has an intense ruby red color. Its scent is reminiscent of wild berries and violets. When you drink it, however, you will be invaded by the freshness and persistence of the wine.

Oddone is excellent with meat-based dishes and aged cheeses.

Winery history
The estate is managed by the Gabellini family, who moved to Bertinoro and purchased land planted with Sangiovese and Albana in 1962. The winery’s bottled production began with a Sangiovese cru, Il Colombarone, first released in 1998. Over the years the winery has developed a range of wines that combines indigenous grape varieties with a few projects featuring international varieties.
Production philosophy
The estate practices organic farming, certified since 1999, and introduced biodynamic practices in 2018. In the vineyard, manual work and soil-respecting techniques are prioritized; in the winery, spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, aging on the lees and experimental approaches are used to preserve the expression of the terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
Located on the hills of Bertinoro, in the part of the Romagna hills facing the Adriatic Sea, the estate cultivates vineyards typical of the area. The area favors Sangiovese and Albana as the main varieties, complemented by a few vineyards planted with international varieties in specific projects.
Awards and recognitions
In recent years they have received recognition for several wines: for example, Frangipane was listed as a Top Wine / Vino Slow, included among L'Espresso's Top 5 Natural Wines, and received value-for-money recognition from guides such as Gambero Rosso; other wines from the estate have also earned awards and mentions in national guides.
