The Saumur-Champigny La Folie from Chateau Yvonne is a distinctive example of red wine from the renowned Loire region in France. This wine is primarily made with Cabernet Franc grapes, a typical variety of the area, which imparts an elegant structure and intense aromas to the wine.

With a bright ruby red appearance, the Saumur-Champigny La Folie offers vibrant notes of red fruits on the nose, such as strawberry and raspberry, with a slight hint of aromatic herbs and a subtle trace of minerality reflecting the rich limestone terroir where the vines grow. On the palate, it presents an enticing freshness, balanced by finely woven tannins and a persistent finish that leaves a pleasant feeling of cleanliness.

Ideal for serving with light meat dishes, roasted poultry, or medium-aged cheeses, this wine best expresses the qualities of Cabernet Franc when served slightly chilled. The complexity and elegance of Saumur-Champigny La Folie make it a refined accompaniment for an important dinner or a special moment.

Country: Francia
Grapes: Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Pineau d'Aunis
Estate focused on Saumur and Saumur‑Champigny, with small-scale production and notable single parcels. Main wines: Yvonne Blanc, Yvonne Rouge and cuvées such as La Folie, Le Gory and Le Beaumeray. Certified organic farming and the use of biodynamic practices. Artisanal production with native-yeast fermentations and minimal cellar intervention.
Winery history
The castle has stood for centuries, with vineyards historically surrounding Parnay; the modern vineyard was restored in the late 1990s and, in 2007, Mathieu Vallée took over management, retaining the name Château Yvonne and developing the production of historic cuvées such as Yvonne Blanc and Yvonne Rouge.
Production philosophy
The estate practices organic farming and, according to several sources, follows biodynamic principles and low‑intervention winemaking methods: hand‑harvesting, indigenous yeasts, limited use of sulfites and little or no filtration/fining. The approach aims to express the terroir naturally.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Parnay, within the Saumur and Saumur‑Champigny appellations, with a terroir of limestone/tuffeau and parcels spread across several small plots around the village and on the 'Côte' that slopes down to the Loire.
