Baron Edmond de Rothschild Winery

In 1868 James de Rothschild initiated the family into viticulture and bought the famous Château Lafite. In 1973 James's great-grandson, Baron Edmond de Rothschild, expanded the company properties by acquiring two “Crus Bourgeois” in Listrac and Moulis en Médoc: Château Clarke and Château Malmaison.

Since then, the evolution has been constant and targeted: by carefully restoring all the structures and buildings, and systematically planting new vineyards, the "Baron Edmond de Rothschild Wine Company" was founded. While remaining a family business, it opens up to modernizations and innovations even beyond the French borders, reaching as far as South Africa and the Argentine Andes.

Experience and traditions are transmitted both in the vineyard and in the cellar, between the rows the vines are grown with the utmost care and with the utmost respect for the environment and the ecosystem.

Vinification, aging and refinement, each step is scrupulously cared for. Today it is the fifth generation of the Rothschilds to run the company, and with Baron Eric de Rothschild at the head of Château Lafite.

The result is an excellent wine famous all over the world.
