Col Vetoraz Winery

The ancestors of Francesco Miotto in 1838 settled on the “Col Vetoraz”, next to the Mont di Cartizze (Valdobbiadene - Treviso) and immediately began the cultivation of the vine.

The Col Vetoraz, in 1918, is a perfect base military garrison of the Austro-Hungarian command with its dominant view, undergoes pressing and massive bombings from the Italian front on the Piave. With great effort and dedication, the Miotto family heals the wounds of the Great War and resumes the cultivation of the vine.

In 1980 Francesco Miotto was 29 years old, and unfortunately his father passed away prematurely, he took all the responsibility of the company on his young shoulders, and began the production of the first bottles with the traditional "bottom" method.

On a warm spring morning in 1993, Francesco goes for a walk among the magnificent vineyards that his family has been cultivating for generations. On that magnificent hill, unique in the world, with the brothers Loris and Paolo, they make the decision to found Col Vetoraz Spumanti. Together they want to honor this generous territory so dear to them, creating with passion only wines of the highest quality. Their intent is very ambitious, to become the reference of this wine area.

The surrounding area is perfect with its gentle slopes and currents, with excellent exposure to sunlight and an ideal organic composition of the soil.

The tradition of the Miotto family is over a hundred years old, with the great capacity for ideas of one of the most innovative oenologists. Col Vetoraz comes to life with the agronomist Paolo De Bortoli and the oenologist Loris Dall’Acqua who support Francesco Miotto in a continuous experiment towards excellence with over 250 awards won.
Col Vetoraz is unquestionably a great anchor, of the highest quality, of this magnificent land of ours.
