Contini Winery
The Contini company was founded in 1898 by the homonymous Salvatore Contini. During those years, when speaking of wine in Sardinia, reference was made to Vernaccia, Salvatore decided to devote himself totally to the enhancement of this splendid vine.
His passion and dedication soon bore fruit and in 1912 at the Milan International Exposition, he received the gold medal for the production of Vernaccia di Oristano, the first wine in Sardinia to obtain the controlled designation of origin starting from 1971 vintage.
Over the years, his son Attilio joined Salvatore who took over the full management of the company on the eve of the Second World War. In the 1960s, the business, which had hitherto been a family business, was consolidated also thanks to the acquisition of grapes from local producers that increased production capacity.
The turning point for the winery's activity came in the 1980s when the Contini, in view of the many historical and social changes in the rhythms and lifestyles of consumers, ride the wave and thus start the production of new wines dedicated to a younger and more dynamic audience.
