Federico Curtaz Winery

Federico Curtaz's history and passion for viticulture begins in Piedmont. In Monferrato his grandparents were owners of old Barbera vineyards and it is here that his interest in this world was born and grew, which led him to study viticulture and enology. After completing his studies, he found work in Barbaresco at Angelo Gaja where he remained for about fifteen years.

Since 1997 he has been working as a consultant in Italy and abroad, and it is for this reason that he arrives in Sicily, where in 2007, in the Tenuta di Fessina company, he begins to produce his wines on Etna. Together with other partners, he will create his Etna brand which is now known and solid throughout the territory.

Its owned vineyards are spread over several territories: from Noto, in the extreme south of Sicily, on the north side of Etna and on the south side for rent. Since 2014 he has assigned the management of the vineyards and the production of wines to his name, to personally dedicate himself to research on the old vineyards of Nerello Mascalese
and Carricante. Even today, he does not have a personal cellar, but assigns his grapes under his directives and meticulous gaze to the Vivera family.
