Winery history Louis Roederer

Founded at the end of the 18th century and renamed Louis Roederer when the family took the helm, the Maison has long stood out for owning and vinifying its own parcels. In the 19th century the house planted vineyards in Champagne’s most celebrated terroirs and, in 1876, created the prestige cuvée Cristal for the Russian court. Over time the family expanded the group while preserving its identity as an independent, family-run wine house.

Production philosophy

Priority is given to vineyard ownership and respect for the terroir: parcel-by-parcel vinifications, attention to biodiversity and a transition toward organic and biodynamic practices across large areas. The style aims for precision, purity and the expression of the characteristics of individual parcels.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards spread across the main subregions of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs; operational base in Reims. Some parcels are in villages renowned for Grand Cru and Premier Cru.
