Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery
Moonshine is the term given to the whiskey that was distilled clandestinely in America during the prohibition period. It was brewed during the night, hence the name "moonshine" to avoid tight police checks and to keep the columns of smoke that were produced during distillation hidden. This illegal product was distilled in the backwoods of Tennessee using corn paste as the main ingredient.
Ole Smoky is a tribute to this incredible and great American story, presents its moonshine in original glass jars in memory of the first containers used by illegal distillers. The distillery today is run by an ancient family originally from the Appalachian mountains, which for more than 100 years has produced its own moonshine illegally.
Moving when the state of Tennessee made it legal to open distilling facilities, Ole Smoky Moonshine became the state's first major producer. The company is located at the foot of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, the master distillers use only local ingredients, pristine natural Tennessee waters and pure fruit juice for the flavored spirits.
