Xoriguer Mahon Gin is a distillate of great charm and tradition, originating from the beautiful island of Minorca in the Balearic Islands. This unique gin is produced through a meticulous process that combines ancient artisan techniques with the pure essence of the Mediterranean. Its history dates back to the 18th century during the period of British rule on the island, making it one of the oldest gins in the world still in production.
Produced by the Xoriguer distillery, literally on the edge of Mahon's port, this gin is distilled in ancient copper pot stills fueled by wood, using a traditional method that reflects the era in which it was created. The alcohol base is exclusively obtained from high-quality grains, while the distinctive element comes from the addition of handpicked juniper berries from the surrounding areas, paired with a selection of aromatic herbs and citrus.
On the nose, Xoriguer Mahon Gin opens with distinctly fresh and balsamic notes, where juniper clearly dominates but is well balanced by the presence of citrus nuances and a light touch of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is smooth yet complex, with a lingering persistence that recalls the fresh sea breezes of Minorca.
Visually, the gin is crystal clear, a symbol of its quality and careful distillation. Ideal for enjoying in a classic Gin & Tonic, it enriches any cocktail where one wishes to appreciate the depth of the gin without masking its character.
Xoriguer Mahon is more than just a simple gin; it is a piece of Minorcan history that carries with it the taste and aroma of a land of sea, wind, and sun. Perfect for gin lovers seeking a product with a strong territorial identity and an intriguing story to tell.
