Morellino di Scansano Reserve represents the roots of the company, the first wine produced by Fattoria Le Pupille in 1978 and marketed in 1982. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude between 50 and 250 m a.s.l.; the grapes used are Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon carefully selected during the manual harvest which takes place towards the end of September for the Sangiovese, and towards the first half of October for the Cabernet Sauvignon. The maceration on the skins lasts 20 days, with fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel and malolactic fermentation also in steel. The 15-month refinement takes place in 10-20-40 hl oak barrels.

When poured, the goblet takes on a deep, dark garnet red. The olfactory profile seduces with aromas of red fruits mixed with delicate balsamic scents and hints of Mediterranean spices. A wine that offers a concentrated, round and full-bodied sip, perfectly balanced with firm and persistent tannins. The finish is long and brings back the classic spicy and fruity nuances.

A red wine from the southern Maremma that lends itself well to pairing with first courses with tasty and complex sauces, also splendidly accompanies red meat or game main courses and aged cheeses.
