The Sassicaia DOC in 375ml format from Tenuta San Guido represents an icon of Italian viticulture, an expression of a unique terroir and an innovative vision that has been able to revolutionize the Tuscan and international wine scene. Produced in the prestigious area of Bolgheri, in Maremma Tuscany, Sassicaia was born from the intuition of the Incisa della Rocchetta family to create a wine inspired by the great Bordeaux, using mainly Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc.

This pioneering choice, in the 1960s, led to the birth of the first "Super Tuscan", a wine which, in addition to obtaining immediate critical recognition, paved the way for a new category of high quality Italian wines produced outside of traditional denominations. The particularly stony soil (hence the name "Sassicaia"), together with the mild climate influenced by the proximity to the sea, gives the wine a unique structure and complexity.

The 375ml, half bottle format offers the opportunity to enjoy the magnificence of Sassicaia on more intimate occasions or for those who wish to explore its evolution without having to open a whole bottle. Despite its smaller size, the wine retains all the distinctive characteristics that have made it famous throughout the world.

The vinification of Sassicaia follows rigorous methods, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by aging for approximately 24 months in French oak barriques. This process gives the wine its typical elegance, enriched by notes of ripe red fruit, spices, aromatic herbs and a subtle touch of vanilla and tobacco.

Visually, Sassicaia has an intense and lively ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a wide spectrum of aromas, from red fruits to balsamic, mineral and aromatic herbal notes, with a light trace of vanilla and chocolate given by the aging in wood. In the mouth, the wine demonstrates extraordinary elegance and balance, with fine tannins and a complex structure leading to a long and persistent finish.

Ideal to pair with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses, the Sassicaia DOC in 375ml format from Tenuta San Guido is a unique tasting experience, which allows you to savor the greatness of one of the best Italian wines, celebrated and appreciated by wine lovers. wine all over the world.

A winery in the Tuscan Maremma (Bolgheri) known for the celebrated Sassicaia, a Bordeaux-style Super‑Tuscan.
Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese
Producer of Sassicaia, the emblematic label of the "Super Tuscan" movement. Estate covering approximately 2,500 hectares in Maremma di Bolgheri. Two second wines are already on the market: Guidalberto and Le Difese. Diversified agricultural production: vineyards, olive groves, and initiatives related to wildlife and land conservation. Collaboration for the "Grappa di Sassicaia" distilled by Poli, using pomace from Tenuta San Guido.
Winery history
The estate is tied to the Incisa della Rocchetta family: Mario Incisa began experimenting with French varieties in Bolgheri and the private production of Sassicaia became commercial with the 1968 harvest. Over time Nicolò Incisa and his collaboration with winemaker Giacomo Tachis helped consolidate its reputation; subsequently the estate expanded its range with Guidalberto and Le Difese. Sassicaia obtained a reserved denomination, which reinforced the label’s distinctiveness.
Production philosophy
The estate's philosophy emphasizes respect for the ecosystem, the balance between people and nature, and an agricultural approach attentive to quality; the estate states agronomic practices aimed at soil care and sustainable management of its crops.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate extends into the Tuscan Maremma, in the Bolgheri area, on predominantly gravelly and stony soils reminiscent of the Graves formations in Bordeaux. The microclimate benefits from the maritime influence and the shelter of the hills behind it, factors that contribute to its suitability for Bordeaux grape varieties.
Awards and recognitions
International recognition for Sassicaia includes top scores from international critics and prominent placements in landmark tastings, such as the Decanter tasting in which Sassicaia was acknowledged. In addition, the 2015 vintage was named Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator.
