The Barbaresco DOCG Gallina del Castello di Neive is a label that reflects the high expression of the Nebbiolo grape, grown in one of the most renowned vineyards in the Barbaresco area. The Castello di Neive estate, located in the heart of the Piedmont region, is well known for the production of wines that embody the purity and complexity of this territory, thanks to the use of careful agricultural practices and a winemaking that aims to enhance the characteristics unique to each vineyard.

The "Gallina" vineyard is particularly appreciated for its position and its soil, which contribute to creating an ideal microclimate for the maturation of Nebbiolo. These conditions allow us to obtain grapes of excellent quality, which translate into a wine of great elegance, structure and longevity.

The vinification of Barbaresco Gallina follows traditional methods, with long fermentation and maceration to extract the maximum colours, aromas and tannins from the Nebbiolo. Subsequently, the wine is aged in oak barrels, where it further develops its aromatic complexity and tannic softness.

Visually, Barbaresco Gallina presents itself with the typical garnet red color of Nebbiolo, with orange reflections that intensify with aging. On the nose, it offers a wide spectrum of aromas, from ripe red fruit to floral notes, sweet spices, tobacco and subtle mineral accents, which reflect the richness of the terroir of origin.

In the mouth, the wine demonstrates extraordinary elegance and depth, with fine and well-integrated tannins that blend into a texture of intense and persistent flavors. The natural acidity of Nebbiolo guarantees a freshness that balances the structure of the wine, leading to a long and memorable finish.

Ideal in combination with intense and structured dishes, such as red meats, truffle-based dishes, game and mature cheeses, Barbaresco DOCG Gallina di Castello di Neive is a wine that tells the story and tradition of one of the noblest expressions of Nebbiolo , offering a tasting experience that remains etched in the memory.

Winery history
The estate is housed in an 18th-century noble palace. The Stupino family began modern operations in the 1960s and has owned the Castello since 1964; over time it has reorganized historic vineyards and renovated the cellars. Among the most frequently mentioned company developments are the enhancement of the Santo Stefano vineyard and the opening, in 2016, of “La Casetta del Castello” as a space for tours and tastings.
Production philosophy
It combines traditional roots with a modern approach: emphasis on the terroir and individual vineyards, separate vinifications for the finest parcels, use of the historic cellar for oak aging alongside modern technical facilities, and sustainability-oriented practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the municipality of Neive, in the heart of the Langhe, the estate benefits from historic vineyards including Santo Stefano, Gallina, Messoirano, Montebertotto, i Cortini, Marcorino, Basarin and Valtorta. The Santo Stefano vineyard is often noted for its distinctive exposure and microclimate and is mapped in the estate's historical records.
