The Dos Maderas Double Aged Rum 5+3 years produced by Williams & Humbert is a refined example of rum that benefits from a unique double aging process, called "5+3." Originating from Barbados and Guyana, this rum spends its first five years maturing in the Caribbean, in traditional oak barrels that previously housed bourbon. Subsequently, it is transported to Spain, where it spends an additional three years in barrels that previously contained the prestigious Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry.
The combination of these two types of aging gives Dos Maderas a surprisingly complex and balanced aromatic profile. The nose is enhanced by a rich sweetness, with notes of stewed fruit, vanilla, and honey, enriched by the influence of sherry, which contributes nuances of raisins and dates. On the palate, this rum is smoothly enveloping, revealing a layer of flavors that includes dark chocolate, nutmeg, and a mild spiciness, culminating in a long and pleasantly lingering finish.
Dos Maderas Double Aged Rum 5+3 years can be enjoyed neat, to fully appreciate its complexity, or as the base for sophisticated cocktails where it can elegantly enhance the aromas of the drink. This rum is not just a beverage, but a sensory experience that reflects the art and mastery of double maturation, making it a valuable addition for collectors and connoisseurs of fine rum. The 70cl packaging offers the perfect size for celebrating special occasions or giving a touch of luxury to spirits lovers.
