The Valpolicella DOC - Caleselle - Santi is a red wine that captures the essence of the Valpolicella territory with elegance and character, produced by the Santi winery, known for its dedication in creating quality wines and for the particular attention paid to traditions wine producers in the region. The "Caleselle" line represents the winery's commitment to expressing the typicality and variety of the blend of native grapes, offering a tasting experience that is both accessible and rich in nuances.

Visually, this Valpolicella presents itself with an intense and inviting ruby red color, with reflections that tend towards purple, a sign of its youth and liveliness. On the nose, the wine unfolds a complex and multifaceted aromatic bouquet, where notes of fresh cherry, berries and a light spicy hint stand out, enriched by a touch of aromatic herbs which adds depth and interest to the olfactory profile.

On the palate, it reveals itself balanced and harmonious, with a medium body and soft tannins that make it an extremely drinkable wine. The well-calibrated acidity supports the red fruit flavors and contributes to a sensation of freshness and cleanliness in the mouth, leading to a pleasantly persistent finish, which leaves memories of ripe fruit and a light herbaceous note.

Ideal as a companion for daily meals, this Valpolicella pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, from pasta with light meat sauces to white meat dishes and medium-aged cheeses. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice for those looking for a red wine that can elegantly accompany different phases of the meal.

Winery history
Cantina Santi was founded as a winery in Illasi and has been present in Valpolicella since the 19th century. During the 20th century the Santi family introduced technical innovations and progressively focused on high-end wines; in 1974 the winery became part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, which reinforced investments and facilities while preserving its local identity.
Production philosophy
Santi claims a style tied to the sense of place of Valpolicella: it favors the predominant use of Corvina in its selections, aging in large traditional casks, and the use of local woods to enhance the aromatic qualities typical of native grape varieties. The approach combines oenological research with respect for local practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Santi's vineyards and selections are concentrated in Val d'Illasi and the classic areas of Valpolicella, using a vineyard-selection approach across different exposures and microclimates to produce wines that reflect the local terroir. The winery also works with vineyards in other Veronese appellations such as Soave, Bardolino and Lugana.
