The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG - Badia a Coltibuono represents the pinnacle of production of this historic estate located in the heart of the Chianti Classico denomination, one of the most prestigious wine areas in Tuscany. The Riserva di Badia a Coltibuono is a wine that is produced only in the best years, from Sangiovese grapes carefully selected from the best vineyards of the estate. Meticulous attention in the selection of grapes, together with careful vinification and a prolonged aging period in oak barrels, contributes to creating a wine of extraordinary complexity, structure and elegance.
The aging process of the Riserva takes place for at least 24 months in wooden barrels of various sizes, followed by further refinement in the bottle. This long maturation period not only allows the wine to develop a rich and multifaceted aromatic bouquet, but also to soften the tannins, resulting in a more harmonious and balanced sip.
At sight, the Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG of Badia a Coltibuono has a deep ruby red color, with garnet reflections that become more accentuated with aging. On the nose, the wine expresses a wide range of aromas: from ripe red fruit, such as cherries and plums, to more evolved notes of tobacco, leather, sweet spices and a light mineral vein, typical of the Chianti Classico terroir.
In the mouth, the Riserva shows great structure and balance. The tannins are present but well integrated, the acidity is lively and helps keep the wine fresh and long-lived. The finish is long and persistent, with a return of the fruity and spicy notes perceptible on the nose, enriched by a pleasant aftertaste of vanilla and oak.
This wine is an ideal companion for rich and structured dishes, such as roasted red meats, game, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses. Its complexity and depth also make it perfect to be tasted alone, as a meditation, to fully appreciate its nuances.
