The Lagrein DOC from Kossler Winery is an excellent example of one of the most distinctive red wines from Trentino-Alto Adige. Made exclusively from Lagrein grapes, a native variety of the region, this wine is noted for its strong character and deep color intensity.
The color of Kossler’s Lagrein is typically a rich ruby red, tending towards violet. On the nose, it offers a complex and seductive bouquet, with notes of ripe wild berries such as blackberries and raspberries, enriched by nuances of violet, chocolate, and a light spicy touch derived from aging in wood.
On the palate, the wine is robust and well-structured. The balance between acidity and tannins is well proportioned, resulting in a velvety and harmonious sensation. The lingering aftertaste confirms the olfactory sensations adding a pleasant complexity.
This Lagrein pairs excellently with red meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is also ideal for accompanying peaceful conversations in front of the fireplace on winter evenings.
It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of about 16-18°C to fully appreciate its qualities. With an aging potential that can extend for several years, Kossler’s Lagrein DOC can also be kept in the cellar to further develop its complexity and nuances.
In summary, Kossler's Lagrein DOC is not just a wine, but a true expression of the land and the winemaking tradition of Alto Adige, capable of providing a rich and deeply satisfying sensory experience.
