The Virtus Langhe DOC of the Marchesi di Gresy is a refined and innovative interpretation of traditional Piedmontese grapes, created by one of the most prestigious wineries in the Langhe region. This wine is the result of a careful blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Merlot, chosen for their ability to express the essence of the Langhe terroir in a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
The vinification of Virtus takes place with great attention and respect for the viticultural material. After a careful selection of the grapes, the fermentation and maceration process is aimed at extracting the best from each variety, preserving the integrity of the fruit and the aromatic complexity. The use of French oak barriques for aging allows the different varietal components to be integrated into a harmonious whole, adding layers of complexity without overpowering the freshness and liveliness of the grapes.
Visually, Virtus Langhe DOC stands out for its intense red color with reflections that turn to garnet with evolution. On the nose, the wine offers a complex and inviting olfactory profile, with notes of red and black fruits, floral touches and a subtle spiciness, enriched by nuances of vanilla and chocolate, the result of aging in wood.
In the mouth, Virtus is extremely balanced, with a well-integrated tannic structure that supports the aromatic richness. The acidity is lively and helps to maintain great freshness, leading to a long and persistent finish, where the fruity flavors blend with elegant notes of spices and a light balsamic aftertaste.
Ideal as a companion to structured meat-based dishes, such as braised meats and roasts, mature cheeses and Piedmontese cuisine, the Virtus Langhe DOC from the Marchesi di Gresy represents a unique expression of the ability of this winery to interpret the Langhe territory in a contemporary, offering a tasting experience that combines intensity, elegance and complexity.
