The Merlot 50 Anni DOC from Le Vigne di Zamò represents a Venetian excellence, born from a dedicated territory and a well-established winemaking tradition. Cultivated with care on the hills of the area, this Merlot comes from vines over fifty years old that give the wine a refined structure and unique olfactory depth.

The fermentation takes place with meticulous attention, followed by aging in oak barrels that enrich the aromatic profile with elegant spicy and vanilla notes. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby color, while the nose releases notes of ripe red fruits, cherry, and hints of cocoa and tobacco.

On the palate, it reveals a velvety texture, with soft tannins and a balance that invites long pairings with red meats, flavorful roasts, and aged cheeses, thus enhancing the noble character of a Merlot that tells half a century of passion and respect for the vineyard.

Winery history
The family history dates back to 1924; the winery’s modern era began when Tullio Zamò purchased vineyards in the 1970s and developed with the involvement of his sons Pierluigi and Silvano. Over the years parcels have been acquired or leased on the hills of Rocca Bernarda, Buttrio and Rosazzo. Notable milestones include the arrival of technical and commercial professionals and significant recognitions for labels such as Ronco dei Roseti. Since 2010 a partnership with Oscar Farinetti has also been mentioned; the first certified organic harvest was celebrated in 2021.
Production philosophy
Production aims to respect natural rhythms and the expressiveness of the land: vineyard practices oriented toward natural methods and careful handling of the grapes at the winery to showcase the native varieties and the estate’s crus. The winery declares a commitment to sustainability, evidenced by organic certification obtained with the 2021 harvest.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located on the hills of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, particularly in the terroirs of Rosazzo, Buttrio and Rocca Bernarda. Rosazzo is described as a hill with a notable diurnal temperature range and favorable exposure, on marine-derived soils rich in mineral elements.
Awards and recognitions
Among the cited recognitions are the Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso for Ronco dei Roseti and mentions of awards and recognitions in specialized wine guides.
