Winery history Basilisco (Basilisco Società Agricola)

Founded in the early 1990s. In early 2011 it was acquired as part of Feudi di San Gregorio's project to restore the tuff cellars in the Parco delle Cantine of Barile. Identified operational figures: Viviana Malafarina (management) and Pierpaolo Sirch (vineyard manager).

Production philosophy

To express the Vulture terroir: Aglianico grown on volcanic/tuff soils, winemaking aiming to preserve character and minerality, ageing partly in barriques and in tuff cellars. Some labels are sold in 'bio' editions according to product sheets from distributors.

Vineyards in the Monte Vulture area, chiefly around the municipality of Barile (Potenza). Volcanic/tuff soils; indicative altitude about 500 m asl; predominant exposure South–SouthEast.
