Discover the story, territory and wines of Weingut Leya.

Small producer based in Terlano (Alto Adige/South Tyrol) led by Malcolm Salvadori; makes typical local wines including Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC and Terlaner.

Winery history Weingut Leya

Project officially started in 2019 by Malcolm Salvadori after studies in viticulture/enology and experience at wineries in Italy and Europe; first bottling in 2019 using family vineyards and rented plots.

Production philosophy

Respect for the grapes and the wine, targeted and minimal intervention, manual and patient work to produce wines that reflect vintage differences and the Terlano terroir: lively, vertical, mineral and long-lived wines.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards in the Adige Valley facing southwest in the Classical zone of the municipality of Terlano (Terlano DOC/Alto Adige); cited sites include Vigna Gratlhof (Terlan) and plots in Prissian (Prissiano) and Caldaro (Kaltern). Soils morainic/porphyritic; small-scale holdings (site states about "almost three hectares").
