Producer history Douglas Laing & Co.
Founded in Glasgow in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, the company has remained family-run and is now operated by the third generation. Over its history it has developed several collections and brands (including King of Scots, Old Particular, Big Peat). In 2013 a restructuring/transfer of some family assets led to the creation of Hunter Laing; Douglas Laing & Co. retained and further developed its own product lines. In 2019 Douglas Laing acquired Strathearn Distillery, marking an occasional move from purely bottling activities to controlled production/distillation.
Production philosophy
A focus on cask selection and regional character: the company offers both regionally driven blends/blended malts and selected single cask and single malt releases. It favors small-batch releases and distinct collections positioned by style (e.g. Remarkable Regional Malts, Old Particular, Premier Barrel).
