Pairing Red meats, roasts, aged cheeses
Deep ruby color with garnet hues, an aromatic profile centered on ripe black-berry fruits, earthy notes and a hint of sweet spice that does not overpower. The sip is free of artifice, supported by good acidity and firm but well-balanced tannins that define its structure and grip in the mouth; the whole shows balance between body and freshness, with persistence that recalls fruit and a mineral caress. Notes of plum and blackberry are perceptible, along with slight balsamic tones.

On the palate it reveals progression and clarity, with a texture that invites robust dishes: roasted meats, hearty stews, aged cheeses and savory sauces. It should be served slightly cool to enhance its drinkability; it also lends itself to short bottle aging for those seeking greater roundness. It’s excellent for informal evenings, especially paired with mushroom-based dishes or game. A choice that combines solidity and versatility, suitable for those who appreciate Aglianico in its most straightforward expression.

Winery history
The name is inspired by a 'rocca' on Monte Petrino, near Mondragone; according to the narrative on the brand's official website, a local legend tells of a dragon that inhabited the mountain and gave the place its name. The Rocca del Dragone brand brings together wines produced in Campania through collaboration with local winemakers and is part of Orion Wines' commercial portfolio.
Production philosophy
The range follows Orion Wines' philosophy: creating expressive, approachable wines by controlling the production chain from the vineyard to bottling, prioritizing territorial identity at fair prices and working with a selected number of partner winemakers.
Terroir and vineyards
The wines are rooted in Campania, with grapes sourced from selected vineyards in the province of Avellino, and local references to the Mondragone/Monte Petrino area serving as inspiration for the brand. The wines are primarily Campania IGP, with the white dedicated to the Greco di Tufo appellation.
