The Barbera d'Alba DOC offered by Bruno Giacosa is a classically styled red wine intended for everyday drinking but made with careful attention. With a lively ruby color and slight violet hues, it opens on the nose with a fragrant profile of red fruits — cherry and plum — accompanied by floral touches and a hint of spice. The bouquet retains a freshness that invites tasting without being aggressive, providing a clear balance between fruity aromas and more restrained notes.

On the palate it shows good vitality: balanced acidity, soft tannins and medium body that encourage drinkability and versatility in pairings. Clear finish of moderate persistence, suitable for regular consumption. Pairs with cured meats, pasta with ragù, simply roasted meats and semi-mature cheeses; appropriate for informal lunches and simple dinners. Serve around 16–18 °C and allow a few minutes of breathing to fully appreciate its character.

Discover the story and wines of Bruno Giacosa.

Historic Piedmont producer (based in Neive), renowned for single-vineyard Barbaresco and Barolo. Owner of Azienda Agricola Falletto; recognised for strict grape selection and an updated-traditional winemaking style.
Region: Piedmont (Langhe)
Country: Italy
Founded: 1895
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis, Grignolino, Chardonnay
Pioneer of single-cru bottlings in Barbaresco. A renowned Nebbiolo traditionalist using extended maceration and aging in large casks. Estate holdings and production are divided between Casa Vinicola Bruno Giacosa and Azienda Agricola Falletto. Historic headquarters in Neive. The company reports managing approximately 50 hectares of vineyards and a declared production capacity of around 600,000 bottles per year.
Winery history
Family-rooted firm; Bruno Giacosa bottled wines from the 1960s, originally working as a commerciante buying selected grapes. He later acquired premier cru vineyards (including Falletto in Serralunga and parcels in Asili and Rabajà). Bruno Giacosa died on 21 January 2018; stewardship continued with his daughters.
Production philosophy
An 'updated-traditional' approach: strict focus on grape quality, long macerations, use of large casks and a move to French oak for ageing. Very selective policy—wines are declassified or not bottled if they do not meet standards.
Terroir and vineyards
Langhe (Piedmont). Based in Neive; estate holdings and historic parcels include Falletto (Serralunga d'Alba) and Barbaresco crus such as Asili and Rabajà, with presence across key MGA of Barolo and Barbaresco.
Awards and recognitions
Recognitions and honors: among the publicly reported honors, Bruno Giacosa was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra.
