The Barbera d'Alba DOC "Pelisa" is a glorious example of how traditional winemaking can meet modernity, creating a product that reflects the authenticity and uniqueness of the Piedmontese terroir. It is produced by the renowned winery Monchiero Carbone, located in the enchanting region of Langhe, known as the vibrant heart of Italian viticulture.

This wine is exclusively vinified from Barbera grapes, which are carefully selected and handpicked in the early hours of the morning to maintain their freshness. The vinification follows traditional methods, but with the use of modern technologies that allow controlled fermentation and aging in large oak barrels. This process ensures the preservation of the typical fruity aromas of the Barbera grape, enriched with light spicy and vanilla notes from the wood.

On the nose, the Barbera d'Alba "Pelisa" offers an intense and complex bouquet: forest fruits such as blackberries and raspberries intertwine with nuances of aromatic herbs and a light touch of licorice. On the palate, it is robust yet elegant, with a lively acidity that is well balanced by a soft and velvety tannic presence. The finish is long-lasting, leaving a pleasantly fresh and fruity sensation.

The "Pelisa" is a wine that can be enjoyed young but also has excellent aging potential. It pairs beautifully with flavorful dishes such as roasted red meats, mushroom-based dishes, and aged cheeses. A true gem to savor, which enhances Italian cuisine and invites moments of conviviality and pleasure.

Winery history
The Monchiero-Carbone family states a winemaking tradition dating back to the early 20th century and, on its official website, traces family roots to 1918; over time family members reunited and expanded the vineyards around Canale to develop the company's modern production. Third-party sources indicate that the winery’s structure was consolidated from the late 1980s/early 1990s, when the vineyards of two families were brought together to begin the joint enterprise.
Production philosophy
The estate focuses on the native grape varieties of the area and on an approach that showcases the terroir of the Roero and Langhe hills, experimenting with aging techniques to enhance the longevity of certain whites and reds. In recent years it has developed aged interpretations of Arneis.
