Buio di Mesa is a Carignano del Sulcis DOC that presents itself dense and dark, with an aromatic profile that is intense yet balanced: ripe black-berried fruit, earthy notes and light spicy nuances that emerge without overpowering. The color is deep ruby with violet reflections that anticipate its concentration; the palate is full, compact but well modulated, with noticeable yet rounded tannins and a saline freshness that keeps the wine lively; the finish is persistent and invites a second sip.

Perfect for characterful dishes, it pairs well with red meats, savory stews and aged cheeses without overwhelming them; the Jeroboam version also makes it ideal for convivial dinners or to be offered as a bottle to share. A light decanting of 30–60 minutes softens the tannins and releases the aromas. Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to highlight the balance between structure and freshness: a vibrant, tangible Mediterranean red, rooted in the character of Carignano.

Winery history
Masi's history is rooted in Valpolicella Classica. A historic family-owned estate, it has developed and enhanced the wines from dried grapes typical of the region. During the 20th century the company helped popularize practices such as ripasso and launched oenological research and experimentation to refine the appassimento technique and the quality of its Amarone and its high-end bottlings.
Production philosophy
