The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG - Decennale - Badia a Coltibuono is a special selection that celebrates the tradition and oenological excellence of one of the most historic estates in the Chianti Classico region. This wine represents a limited edition or a particularly celebratory vintage, produced to commemorate a decade of exceptional harvests or a significant anniversary of the Badia a Coltibuono winery.

Badia a Coltibuono, with its roots stretching back to the 11th century, is a name that evokes a long history of dedication to viticulture and the production of high-quality wines in the heart of Tuscany. The "Decennale" Riserva embodies the pinnacle of this tradition, offering a Chianti Classico Riserva that best expresses the qualities of the terroir and the selected vintage.

Produced mainly from Sangiovese grapes, with the possible addition of other native Tuscan varieties permitted by the Chianti Classico DOCG, this wine is made following rigorous quality standards. After fermentation, the wine matures in oak barrels for an extended period, which can vary based on the characteristics of the vintage, but which generally amounts to a minimum of 24 months, followed by further refinement in the bottle. This long aging process helps to develop a wine of extraordinary complexity, elegance and aging capacity.

Visually, the Riserva Decennale shows an intense ruby red color, with garnet shades that intensify with age. The bouquet is rich and complex, with aromas of ripe red fruits, spicy notes, hints of tobacco, leather and a light balsamic trace, which reflect the richness of Sangiovese and the elegance deriving from aging in wood.

In the mouth, the Riserva Decennale di Badia a Coltibuono offers a robust structure, with ripe and well-integrated tannins, supported by a lively freshness that leads to a long and persistent finish. The aromatic complexity translates into a rich and satisfying tasting experience, which invites reflection on the quality and evolution of the wine over time.

This Chianti Classico Riserva is ideal for accompanying Tuscan cuisine, such as Florentine steak, dishes based on porcini mushrooms, game and mature cheeses. It is also an excellent choice for special occasions or as a meditation wine.

Winery history
The estate is the former Abbey of San Lorenzo a Coltibuono, whose documented origins date back to the 11th century. Over the centuries the property has maintained its connection to local viticulture; in the twentieth century family management helped consolidate the production of wine and olive oil and opened the Abbey to hospitality and the promotion of Tuscan cuisine.
Production philosophy
It practices organic farming with attention to biodiversity, the soil and workers' health. The wine is conceived as the fruit of vineyard work. In the winery, techniques that respect the integrity of the grapes are favored, such as fermentation with indigenous yeasts and the use of gravity-flow winemaking principles.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are concentrated in the Monti in Chianti area on clay-limestone soils. The vineyards mentioned in the product sheets include crus and parcels such as Montebello, Poggino, Vignone and Argenina; the estate overlooks the Arno valley and includes estate-owned olive groves and woodlands.
