More questions

The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru by Mark Haisma is an excellent example of how elegance and power can harmoniously blend in a red wine. Originating from the prestigious Burgundy region in France, this wine is produced in one of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte de Nuits. Mark Haisma, known for his artisanal approach and meticulous attention to detail, vinifies this wine to fully express the unique terroir of Clos Vougeot.

On the nose, the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru offers complex notes of ripe red fruit, delicate spices, and a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, it is structured and well-balanced, with robust yet refined tannins and a long finish that provides nuances of vanilla and chocolate, due to the meticulous barrel aging process.

This wine represents an ideal choice for connoisseurs seeking a wine with great aging potential. It is perfect to serve with elaborate dishes such as roasted red meats or rich stews, where its structure can beautifully counterbalance the intense flavors of the food.

Grape varieties
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté, Gamay, Syrah
  • Former winemaker at Yarra Yering, subsequently relocated to and worked in Burgundy.
  • Micro-négociant known for working with small volumes and renowned crus from the Côte de Nuits.
  • An approach focused on freshness, tension and minimal oak intervention.
  • They own and work vineyards in the Mâcon and have acquired a small domaine in Gevrey‑Chambertin.
The story
Born and trained in Australia — including a long, decade-long tenure at Yarra Yering — Mark Haisma moved to Burgundy at the start of his European career and began releasing wines as a négociant with the 2009 vintage. Over the years he has developed his project by establishing his own winery and by acquiring vineyards and a small domaine in Gevrey‑Chambertin toward the end of the 2010s. He is known both for purchasing grapes from trusted local growers and for managing his own parcels, progressively expanding his presence across various subzones of Burgundy, with a few projects also in the Rhône and the Mâconnais.
Production philosophy
A pursuit of purity and balance: rigorous attention to vineyard work, minimal use of oak and winemaking practices that prioritize the expression of place rather than cellar interventions. It favors wines with a fresh, precise palate that reflect each climat.
Terroir and vineyards
Operates primarily in the Côte de Nuits and other areas of Burgundy, with occasional ventures into the Northern Rhône for some wines.
