Etna Bianco DOC by Murgo is a white wine whose designation refers to Mount Etna. The DOC indication places the bottle within a regulated category and establishes its geographical context, while the name Murgo identifies the producer. It is a suitable choice for those who prefer to select a white wine by a clear label indication and value its connection to a recognised designation. For the vintage, grape varieties and specific characteristics of this wine, please refer to the information on the bottle or the current product listing.

At the table, it can be considered alongside starters, fish dishes, vegetables or lighter recipes. Pairings can be adapted to the menu and the actual characteristics of the bottle. It is a versatile option for a lunch or dinner where a white wine with a clear geographical reference is desired, without relying on unverified tasting descriptions. As a gift idea, its connection to Etna and the Murgo name also offer a straightforward way to introduce it to someone curious about Italian wines.

Murgo – Winery in Mount Etna, Sicily

Discover the story and wines of Murgo.

A winery owned by the Scammacca family, active on Mount Etna since 1860 and producing Etna DOC wines, IGT wines and traditional-method sparkling wines.
Region: Mount Etna, Sicily
Country: Italy
Winery history
Murgo’s winery was founded in 1860, when Senator Luigi Gravina gave the Scammacca family about 30 hectares of vineyards on Mount Etna, in the area of today’s San Michele estate. Baron Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo later developed the modern farm; the first Murgo bottle was bottled in 1981.
Production philosophy
Production highlights the territory and native grape varieties, with hand harvesting and attention to sustainability and care for the vines. The winery states that selected indigenous yeasts are used in winemaking.
Terroir and vineyards
The heart of the winery’s production is the San Michele estate, on Etna’s eastern slopes at about 500 metres above sea level. The vineyards grow on volcanic soils; the company also owns estates in Sicily and Lazio.
