Cottanera's Etna DOC Bianco Contrada Calderara is a refined expression of the native Carricante grape variety, grown on the slopes of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, located in Sicily. The particularity of this wine derives from its origin from a specific district, or single vineyard, called Calderara, characterized by unique volcanic soils which give the wine a marked minerality and a distinctive aromatic complexity.
The terroir of Etna, with its soil rich in minerals, the high altitude and the thermal variations between day and night, contributes to creating ideal conditions for the cultivation of Carricante, which in this area is able to best express its potential . Carricante is known for its lively acidity and its ability to age well, qualities that are reflected in the Etna DOC Bianco Contrada Calderara.
At sight, this wine has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, it opens with a complex and inviting bouquet, offering notes of white pulp fruits, such as green apple and pear, together with hints of citrus fruits, white flowers, and a marked minerality reminiscent of flint, a distinctive sign of its terroir volcanic.
In the mouth, the Etna DOC Bianco Contrada Calderara is elegant and structured, with a fresh acidity that brings balance and momentum. Its aromatic complexity is expressed through fruit and citrus flavors, enriched by a persistent mineral vein. The finish is long and clean, with a refreshing persistence that invites another sip.
This wine is particularly suitable for accompanying fish and seafood dishes, risottos and pasta with light sauces, chicken or delicate white meats. Its minerality and freshness also make it an excellent aperitif.
