Let’s talk about Expression Brut Magnum - Geoffroy

More questions

L'Expression Brut Magnum by Geoffroy is born in the renowned Champagne area, a territory famous for its unique geological composition and the cool climate that gives the vines vitality and minerality. This label finely expresses the traditional character of Chardonnay, the main grape variety of the maison, cultivated with methods respectful of biodiversity and the natural response of the plants.

The aging process takes place in the bottle, according to the classic method which involves a long maturation on the lees, an element that adds complexity and persistence. This Champagne presents a fine and lively perlage, a bright straw-yellow color, and a lively bouquet where notes of white fruit such as apple and pear combine with hints of bread crust and toasted almond.

On the palate, the Expression Brut Magnum fascinates with the balance between freshness and softness, with a pleasant saltiness and a long, clean finish. It is perfect as an elegant aperitif, but also to accompany baked fish dishes or delicate white meats, enhancing every course with its refined personality.

The winery

Champagne Geoffroy

Champagne (Vallée de la Marne)Francia

Family-run Champagne house operating as a récoltant-manipulant, with vineyards mainly in Cumières (Premier Cru) and a working cellar in Aÿ. It produces expressive cuvées, benefiting from parcel-by-parcel vinification and technical choices focused on freshness.
Grape varieties
Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir
  • Vineyards concentrated mainly in Cumières.
  • Declared vineyard area: 14 hectares.
  • Declared varietal percentages: approximately 24% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Meunier, 42% Pinot Noir.
  • The winery and winemaking operations were relocated to Aÿ in 2008.
  • Winemaking practices focused on preserving freshness and the use of traditional pressing.
The story
The Geoffroy family has cultivated vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne since the 17th century. In the early 1950s Roger Geoffroy began bottling under his own name. Management then passed to René and later to Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy, who moved the winemaking and commercial operations to Aÿ in 2008. The house has grown while remaining family-run and involving the next generation.
Production philosophy
Production aims to respect the soil and the vineyard’s expression: minimal vineyard work and winemaking conducted parcel by parcel. In the cellar, priority is given to traditional pressing, gravity transfers and choices intended to preserve freshness. Blending and dosage are decided to enhance the wine’s natural balance.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyard covers 14 hectares, divided into plots across the hills of Damery, Hautvillers, Fleury-la-Rivière and, notably, Cumières, a village classified Premier Cru in the Vallée de la Marne. The land is fragmented into numerous clos and parcels that provide diverse varietal expressions typical of the region.
