Langhe Nebbiolo DOC “Prinsiòt” is produced in Verduno, in the heart of the Langhe, from Nebbiolo grapes harvested by hand at the beginning of October. Its name recalls the historical nickname of the Fratelli Alessandria family in the Piedmontese dialect. The grapes come from the Neirane, Pisapola and Sotto Orti vineyards, located between 270 and 400 metres above sea level on limestone soils tending towards silt. The vines are trained using the Guyot system, have an average age of around ten years and are planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare.
Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 26-27 °C for 7-9 days. The wine then ages for 6-8 months in 20-40-hectolitre French or Slavonian oak casks, followed by two months in stainless steel and a further 2-3 months in bottle. This approach is designed to express the elegance and aromatic finesse of Nebbiolo while shaping its tannic structure into a silky, balanced texture. The first year of production dates back to 1964.
