Discover the story and wines of Francesco Versio.

Winemaker from Neive (Langhe, Piedmont) known for terroir-driven red wines with a traditional character, with particular focus on Nebbiolo and Dolcetto.
Region: Piemonte
Country: Italia
Founded: 2012
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera
Winery based in Neive, in the Barbaresco area. Production focused on Nebbiolo: Barbaresco and Langhe Nebbiolo. Traditional, minimalist winery style with spontaneous fermentations. Vineyards in Neive's notable sites: San Cristoforo, Currà, Albesani, Starderi. Small producer: just over 3 hectares under vine.
Winery history
Francesco Versio grew up in Neive and began vinifying his family's grapes in the early 2010s. After studying oenology and gaining experience working in the cellar at Bruno Giacosa, he launched his own production using the vineyards inherited from his grandfather, consolidating a range focused on Neive's geographical indications.
Production philosophy
Minimal, traditional approach: fermentations with indigenous yeasts, often extended macerations and aging in large barrels for the Barbaresco; for other wines stainless steel and concrete are also used. The stated goal is to clearly express the terroir and the purity of the fruit.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Neive and include named sites such as San Cristoforo, Currà, Albesani and Starderi. The reported soils vary from clay and sand to limestone, and the exposures are generally favorable.
