Let’s talk about Negroamaro DOP - Liranu - Conti Zecca

More questions

The Negroamaro DOP "Liranu" by Conti Zecca is a tribute to the Apulian wine tradition, expressing with intensity and character the qualities of one of the most representative vines of Salento. Conti Zecca, one of the region's historic wineries, is known for its ability to combine innovative production methods with a deep respect for tradition, creating wines that tell the story and terroir of this sun-kissed land.

"Liranu" is the result of a careful selection of Negroamaro grapes, grown in the fertile lands of Salento, where the Mediterranean climate, characterized by mild winters and hot, windy summers, contributes to giving the wine an exceptional aromatic richness and fruit maturity . The vinification is aimed at preserving the intensity of the varietal and its territorial expression, with a refinement that expertly balances the use of wood so as not to overwhelm the natural characteristics of the vine.

Visually, "Liranu" presents itself with an intense and deep red color, which is a prelude to its complex organoleptic qualities. On the nose, it offers a rich bouquet of aromas, with dominant notes of ripe red fruit, plum and cherry, enriched by accents of sweet spices, vanilla and a touch of aromatic herbs, which give the wine depth and complexity.

In the mouth, the wine expresses a robust structure, supported by ripe and well-integrated tannins, which outline its strong and decisive personality. The well-balanced acidity gives freshness to the sip, while the flavors of ripe fruit and spicy notes intertwine in a long and persistent finish, characterized by a pleasant softness and a light minerality that recalls the terroir of origin.

Ideal in combination with typical dishes of Salento and Mediterranean cuisine, such as baked pasta, red meats, roasts and mature cheeses, Conti Zecca's "Liranu" is also an excellent meditation wine, which invites you to discover its flavor nuances and reflection on the riches of the Apulian territory.

In conclusion, Conti Zecca's Negroamaro DOP "Liranu" represents an excellent example of the quality and passion that characterize the winery's wine production, offering wine lovers a rich and satisfying experience, which celebrates the beauty and generosity of Salento through one of its most emblematic vines.

The story
The Zecca family has been established in Salento since the 16th century. Agricultural production evolved over time until, in the 1930s, the family began winemaking on-site in Leverano. Today the company comprises several family estates and continues as a family-run operation overseeing the entire production cycle from the vineyard to bottling.
Production philosophy
A territorial approach that prioritizes respect for the soil and the care of the vineyards: winemaking and vineyard practices designed to enhance local pedoclimatic characteristics and to produce both wines for broad distribution and selections in limited releases. The winery also states that it pays attention to sustainable practices and maintains company protocols for agronomic management.
Terroir and vineyards
The wines come from the heart of Salento: vineyards and plots located mainly in the municipalities of Leverano, Veglie and Salice Salentino. The winery manages several family estates scattered throughout the area.
