The Pinot Noir 2020 from the historic Pierre Ponnelle winery is an excellently crafted red wine that captures the essence of Burgundy, one of the most prestigious wine regions in France. This wine is grown in carefully selected vineyards, where the temperate climate and limestone soil impart unique and unmistakable characteristics to the Pinot Noir.

Visually, the Pinot Noir 2020 displays a delicate yet intense ruby red color, with hints that tend toward garnet as it ages. On the nose, it offers a complex and seductive bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits like cherry and strawberry, enhanced by nuances of sweet spices and a light touch of vanilla, inherited from aging in French oak barrels.

On the palate, the structure of this Pinot Noir is elegant and balanced. The acidity is well integrated, contributing to a persistent freshness that harmonizes beautifully with the soft, silky tannins. The long and pleasantly aromatic aftertaste leaves impressions of red fruit and earthy undertones that entice another sip.

The Pinot Noir 2020 by Pierre Ponnelle is a wine that best expresses the typicality of its grape variety, offering immediate drinkability as well as excellent aging potential. It pairs wonderfully with light meat dishes, such as roasted turkey or duck, and also goes splendidly with medium-aged cheeses.

A true gem for wine lovers, the Pinot Noir 2020 is ready to captivate palates with its refinement and complexity.

Pierre Ponnelle – Winery in Borgogna

Discover the story and wines of Pierre Ponnelle.

Burgundian winery based in Beaune, known for producing and trading Burgundy wines, with an emphasis on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Region: Borgogna
Country: Francia
Founded: 1875
Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté
Founded in 1875 and based in Beaune. Long-established négociant-éleveur business. A strong focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Extensive catalog featuring many Burgundian appellations and Beaujolais offerings. Vineyards/historic sites also associated with other estates, now part of larger entities.
Winery history
Pierre Ponnelle was an important figure in Beaune: born in the 19th century, he founded his négociant-éleveur firm in 1875 and, in 1890, purchased the historic Abbaye de Saint Martin de l’Aigue in Beaune. Over time his house has been recognized for its technical contributions to winemaking and has maintained a significant presence in the production and marketing of Burgundian wines.
Production philosophy
The estate adopts an approach that balances respect for the land with experimental innovation: the winemaking takes harvest conditions into account and seeks to extract color, aromas and tannins gently, prioritizing wines that express origin, appellation and terroir rather than a "technical" style.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquartered in Beaune, it has an extensive catalogue covering numerous appellations of Burgundy and nearby areas, including the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits, Chablis, and also some selections from Beaujolais and the Chalonnaise.
