This Riesling from the Mosel, made by Meierer, is a white wine in a 375 ml bottle. The name Paulinshofberg Auslese identifies the selection indicated on the label and links the wine to the region’s Riesling tradition. As no specific information is available about the vintage or winemaking details, it is best to focus on the style suggested by the category: a wine that may combine aromatic intensity and noticeable sweetness with freshness to complement its richness.

On the nose, fruity and floral notes may be expected, while on the palate the sweetness typical of many Auslese wines should find balance in the lively character of Riesling. The half bottle is suited to sharing or serving in smaller portions. It can accompany desserts that are not overly sweet, savoury cheeses, or be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative wine. To appreciate it fully, serve it chilled, taking care not to mask its nuances with an excessively low temperature. A bottle to choose when exploring the softer, more concentrated side of Mosel Riesling, while still allowing its freshness and precision to show.

Weingut Meierer – Winery in Mosel

Discover the story and wines of Weingut Meierer.

Winery in Kesten in the Mosel region, led by Matthias Meierer and specializing in Riesling.
Region: Mosel
Country: Germany
Winery history
Matthias Meierer, the son of a winegrower, studied in Geisenheim and began working part-time at the family winery in 2006. He was named Young Winemaker of the Year in 2008 and has since developed the winery’s portfolio.
Production philosophy
Meierer values understanding and taking part in every stage of winemaking. The winery focuses on Riesling and its diverse expressions, while working to preserve the Mosel’s steep-slope vineyards and the wines’ sense of place.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is based in Kesten and cultivates steep Mosel vineyards. The Paulinshofberg, the source of the Riesling Auslese in question, has Devonian slate soils that are lighter and stonier than those of the Paulinsberg.
