Santa Maddalena Classico DOC, produced by Antheos under the aegis of Ansitz Waldgries, is born in the heart of Alto Adige, a region renowned for its excellent winemaking tradition.

The main grape used is Schiava, which gives this wine a fresh and harmonious style, capable of expressing the balance between fruit and lightness typical of the area. Aging in steel helps preserve aromatic brilliance, while the structure remains soft and approachable.

On the nose, delicate notes of cherry, a slight floral hint, and hints of sweet spices can be perceived. On the palate, it is slender with a pleasant acidic vein that invites sip after sip. Perfect to accompany traditional Tyrolean dishes based on white meats and fresh cheeses, this Santa Maddalena offers an authentic experience that faithfully reflects the character of the territory from which it comes.

Winery history
The property, mentioned in historical documents as early as 1242, is an ancient ansitz in the Santa Maddalena area. The Plattner family has managed the estate since the first half of the 20th century and, over time, transformed the historic residence into a small artisanal winery now led by Christian Plattner. Bottling on a modern scale began in the second half of the 20th century, and the estate has progressively developed a collection of wines focused on the local area.
Production philosophy
An artisanal, terroir-driven approach: hands-on work in the vineyard, respect for the characteristics of each grape variety, and a production focused on expressing the identity of local varieties. The owner likens the creation of the wines to an artistic process, seeking to accompany the wine’s evolution rather than force it.
Terroir and vineyards
South-facing vineyards in the Santa Maddalena area on the outskirts of Bolzano, with steep slopes and views of the Dolomites. The area is Alto Adige / Südtirol, with wines historically linked to the local appellation.
