More questions

The Volnay Ancienne Cuvee Carnot Premier Cru 2020, produced from the renowned "Les Caillerets" vineyards of the house of Bouchard Père & Fils, is an extraordinary example of refinement and complexity. This wine, originating from the Burgundy region in France, is known for its aromatic elegance and balanced structure. The Volnay Ancienne Cuvee Carnot stands out for its deep bouquet, where notes of ripe cherry, berries, and a hint of spices emerge, thanks also to aging in barriques that impart shades of vanilla and toast.

On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety, with finely crafted tannins that offer a silky texture, elegantly persisting into the long and harmonious finish. It is a wine that best expresses the unique terroir of "Les Caillerets," one of the most prestigious climates of Volnay, known for its calcareous soils that impart a lively minerality to the wine.

Serve this Premier Cru at a temperature of around 16°C, ideally accompanying delicate dishes such as white meats or mushroom-based dishes. With its aging potential, the Volnay Ancienne Cuvee Carnot 2020 will continue to develop and captivate for many years to come.

The story
The Maison's history dates back to the early 18th century: Michel Bouchard settled in Beaune and the family began trading wine. In the following decades the Bouchard family acquired significant vineyards. The Maison's historic headquarters are linked to the Château de Beaune, and ownership passed to the Henriot family in 1995; more recently the Maison became part of Artémis Domaines. The official website cites 1731 as the year activities began in Beaune and 1775 as the date of the first acquisition of vineyard plots.
Production philosophy
The Maison’s approach combines respect for Burgundian heritage with sustainable practices: enhancement of the terroir, soil conservation, attention to biodiversity, and gradual conversion to organic farming, with commitments to responsible resource management and the protection of local and human heritage.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards concentrated in the Côte de Beaune with plots in the appellations of Beaune, Volnay, Monthelie, Pommard and Meursault; the estate’s history is closely tied to the town of Beaune and its historic cellars beneath the Château.
