Vulcano 800 is a fabulous garnet red wine produced in Rionero in Vulture, obtained from second harvest grapes. Vulture is an extraordinary terroir of Basilicata, where the presence of Pinot Noir has been noted since ancient times. Here the lava flows have enriched the soil with important elements that give the wines a unique flavour. The vineyards are planted on volcanic rock, at an altitude of 800 m above sea level, with very congenial climatic conditions.
After having harvested the grapes used to produce the sparkling wine, part of the bunches are left still on the vines, these will be harvested in the second harvest, and used to make the Vulcano 800 wine. They are extremely ripe grapes, with a considerable sugar content and a high capacity dye. After vinification, the wine is aged in barriques for about a year.
The nose perceives the fruity and floral scents typical of the vine, distinguished by red currants and wild violets. The volcanic terroir enhances the minerality and earthiness, mixing notes of slate, manganese and sulfur with great balance.
The palate perceives a good acidity, and a great balance between the soft tannins, the flavors of red fruits and the metallurgical notes. Wine of great personal elegance, perfect balance, and exceptional persistence on the palate.
It goes perfectly with appetizers of mixed cold cuts, red meats, baked fish, cutlets and aged cheeses.
