Glengoyne 2017, 8 years from Douglas Laing’s Provenance series, presents a clear, straightforward Highland profile: elegance rather than ostentation. On the nose there are notes of ripe fleshy fruit and subtle citrus, a honeyed sweetness that doesn’t overpower, and a touch of gentle spice. On the palate it is round and clean, with a balance between body and freshness; the smooth, flowing texture reveals a warm persistence leaning toward sweet and delicately spiced notes, without weighing down.

It’s a whisky to be sipped slowly, ideal at the end of a meal or paired with medium-aged cheeses and dry desserts that aren’t overly sweet; a few drops of water open the profile without altering it. The presentation box also makes it an excellent gift choice or a discreet addition to the spirits cabinet of a collector who values style and aromatic clarity over opulence.
