The story
The estate occupies a complex of medieval origin and still has underground cellars in use for aging. The property has belonged to the Martini di Cigala family since 1914; today it is managed by family members.
Production philosophy
Production centered on terroir-driven wines made from estate-grown grapes, with hands-on vineyard practices and a focus on sustainability: certified organic farming, green thinning to promote ripening, and winemaking attentive to the character of Sangiovese.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the southern part of the Chianti Classico area, in the Arbia valley. The vineyards lie at around 270 m above sea level on soils with Pleistocene stratigraphy.
Awards and recognition
The 2016 Chianti Classico from San Giusto a Rentennano was ranked No. 3 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2019.
