Brunello di Montalcino owes its existence to the inventiveness of Clemente Santi and his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi who in the 1900s began making pure Sangiovese Grosso in Montalcino. Since 1888, the first Brunello vintage in history, Biondi-Santi has continued to produce wines renowned for their elegance and extraordinary longevity.
Accurate attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship accompany Brunello Biondi Santi which is produced with hand-selected grapes in the property's vineyards. In the cellar it is fermented in concrete vats with the use of indigenous yeasts and ages in large Slavonian oak barrels for 3 years.
2011 was a hot and little rainy year with high temperatures from May to August, which allowed the vine to reach excellent ripeness, giving perfect grapes for very high-class wines. A grandiose vintage where structure, elegance and freshness combine to create something unique.
In the glass it presents an intense garnet red color. On the nose it offers aromas of cherry, typical of high hill Sangiovese, which blend with aromatic notes of thyme, rosemary and liquorice. In the mouth, the persuasive structure reveals velvety tannins, followed by the usual sensation of freshness that has always distinguished Brunello Biondi-Santi.
A distinct red, with a complex and refined personality capable of providing a high-level gustatory emotion. The very long finish is surprising with its marked flavor, a sign of the gastronomic personality of this Brunello which goes very well with meat-based dishes, roasts, game and mature cheeses
