Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC Rosso is the bottle that the famous winemaker Carlo Ferrini dedicated to Etna. After a great career and the success of his personal project in the lands of Montalcino, driven by his great passion for the beautiful Sicily, Carlo Ferrini decides to compete with another extraordinary terroir and a native red grape variety: the uniqueness of Etna and the Nerello Mascalese.
A red that fully expresses the splendid production area and all the best varietal characteristics of the grapes. The Sicilian estate is nothing more than an old vineyard of just over one hectare, located at an altitude of 950 m a.s.l. The soils are composed of black sands of volcanic origin, with the presence of pumice and basalt rocks.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for about three weeks. Before being bottled, the wine ages for about a year in French oak tonneau and for a few months in concrete tanks.
In the glass it amazes with a light ruby red color, with bright purple reflections. A refined and subtle wine, with a marked fruity bouquet of red currant and cherry mixed with engaging aromas of fragrant red pulp fruit, citrus notes of blood orange, aromatic herbs, medicinal plants and oriental spices.
On the palate the tannic texture is very fine, the taste is rich, complex and with good persistence and a long and savory finish characterized by a pleasant mineral freshness.
An excellent glass to accompany first courses with meat sauce, mushroom risotto, grilled and stewed red meat.
