The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC "Lumeggio di Rosso" from the Illuminati winery represents an excellent example of how the Abruzzo terroir can express itself through this beloved Italian grape variety. This wine stands out for its perfect balance between tradition and innovation, an aspect that the Illuminati winery meticulously cares for.

With an intense ruby red color with violet reflections, "Lumeggio di Rosso" offers a rich and complex bouquet on the nose, where notes of ripe red fruits such as blackberry and currant stand out, accompanied by hints of spices and a slight note of vanilla, deriving from the right balance in its barrel aging.

On the palate, the structure of this Montepulciano is robust yet harmonious, with a well-integrated tannic texture that makes it velvety and persistent. The acidity is well balanced and helps keep the wine fresh and dynamic, with a long and pleasantly fruity finish.

The ideal pairing includes dishes from traditional Abruzzo cuisine, such as red meat roasts, lamb, and hearty pasta dishes with meat sauces. It is also an ideal companion for an evening of aged cheeses and cold cuts.

This wine not only tells the story of a rich and generous terroir but also celebrates the winemaking art of a winery that has managed to evolve while staying true to its roots. "Lumeggio di Rosso" is an excellent choice for those seeking a wine capable of offering a deep and memorable tasting experience.

Winery history
The business traces its origins to the Illuminati family and dates back to 1890, when Nicola Illuminati began winemaking on the border between Marche and Abruzzo. Over the generations ownership and management have remained within the family; in the 1960s Dino Illuminati established the headquarters in Controguerra and expanded the vineyards in the historic area known as Zanna. Today the winery remains a family-run enterprise with multiple generations involved.
Production philosophy
Production focused on quality and a connection to the land: artisanal work in the vineyard and cellar, respect for local agricultural practices, and care of the processes from vine to bottle to express the identity of the Colline Teramane.
Terroir and vineyards
Colline Teramane — a hilly area between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, characterized by temperature variations and windiness that promote balanced ripening of the grapes.
