The Rosato PGI Terre Siciliane "Rosematte" by Le Casematte is a wine that captures the essence and liveliness of the Sicilian terroir, combining them with the freshness and elegance typical of rosés. Le Casematte winery, located in a unique position near the Strait of Messina, is renowned for its ability to produce wines that reflect the rich diversity of the Sicilian landscape, using sustainable viticultural practices to enhance the natural qualities of the grapes.

"Rosematte" is produced mainly from Nero d'Avola grapes, a native Sicilian grape known for its aromatic intensity and versatility. The choice of Nero d'Avola for the production of a rosé demonstrates the winery's innovative approach in enhancing local varieties in a modern and fresh way, suitable to satisfy the most demanding palates.

The vinification of "Rosematte" involves a short cold maceration of the grapes to extract color and aromas without excessive tannins, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the freshness and integrity of the fruit. The result is a wine that clearly expresses the identity of the grape variety and the liveliness of its terroir of origin.

Visually, the "Rosematte" presents itself with a soft and brilliant pink color, which invites tasting. On the nose, it offers a rich and fragrant aromatic bouquet, with dominant notes of fresh red fruits such as strawberries, cherries and a touch of pomegranate, enriched by floral nuances and a light mineral vein, which give complexity and depth.

In the mouth, the wine reveals an extraordinary freshness and liveliness, with a balanced acidity that supports drinking and enhances its fruity flavours, leading to a clean and persistent finish, characterized by a pleasant sensation of lightness and harmony.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with light dishes of Mediterranean cuisine, appetizers, summer salads, fish and seafood dishes, the Rosato IGP Terre Siciliane "Rosematte" by Le Casematte is a wine that expresses the joy and warmth of Sicily, offering a refreshing and satisfying tasting experience, which invites you to share and discover the many facets of the Nero d'Avola grape.

Winery history
Le Casematte began as an enological project founded by Gianfranco Sabbatino and Andrea Barzagli with the aim of raising the profile of the Faro appellation. The name comes from the presence, within the vineyards, of two casematte visible in the landscape; the venture is presented as a meeting between local tradition and modern winemaking choices.
Production philosophy
Small-scale, terroir-focused production: the producer favors indigenous grape varieties and low‑impact farming practices, limiting the use of new oak in aging to preserve freshness and a sense of place in the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards on the hills of Contrada Corso, on the heights north of Messina overlooking the Strait of Messina, at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The microclimate is influenced by sea breezes between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, with pronounced day–night temperature variations that promote the aromatic development of the grapes.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and some of its vintages have received ratings and recognition from guides and critics; praise has appeared in publications and among retailers.
