The Faro DOC in Jeroboam format by Le Casematte is a true expression of oenological mastery and dedication to the land, reflecting the essence of one of the most evocative and history-rich terroirs of Sicily, the Faro area. This wine represents the commitment of the Le Casematte winery in producing wines that not only tell the history and traditions of the territory, but which also push towards excellence through the use of innovative and sustainable viticultural practices.

Le Casematte's Faro DOC is produced from a carefully selected blend of native Sicilian grapes, including Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, together with other varieties that contribute to creating a unique aromatic profile and extraordinary complexity. These grapes grow on soils rich in minerals, in vineyards overlooking the Strait of Messina, where the influence of the sea and particular climatic conditions favor optimal maturation and the maintenance of lively acidity.

The vinification of Faro DOC involves careful maceration and fermentation, aimed at preserving the integrity of the fruit and the aromatic nuances of the varieties used. The wine is then aged in wood for a period which helps to enrich its structure and integrate the tannins, resulting in a perfect balance between power and elegance.

Presented in an impressive Jeroboam format, which is equivalent to four standard bottles and contributes to slower and more gradual aging, Le Casematte's Faro DOC stands out for its intense ruby red color and a complex nose that offers a range of aromas that ranging from ripe red and black fruits, to spicy, floral and tobacco notes, enriched by a light mineral touch.

In the mouth, the wine demonstrates extraordinary complexity with fine and well-integrated tannins, a lively acidity that enhances its freshness and intense flavors of fruit, spices and a light balsamic hint. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant harmony that invites another sip.

Ideal as a companion for rich and structured dishes, red meats, game and mature cheeses, the Faro DOC in Jeroboam format by Le Casematte is a wine that celebrates the richness of Sicilian viticulture, offering a unique and unforgettable tasting experience, destined to further improve with the years.

Winery history
Le Casematte began as an enological project founded by Gianfranco Sabbatino and Andrea Barzagli with the aim of raising the profile of the Faro appellation. The name comes from the presence, within the vineyards, of two casematte visible in the landscape; the venture is presented as a meeting between local tradition and modern winemaking choices.
Production philosophy
Small-scale, terroir-focused production: the producer favors indigenous grape varieties and low‑impact farming practices, limiting the use of new oak in aging to preserve freshness and a sense of place in the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards on the hills of Contrada Corso, on the heights north of Messina overlooking the Strait of Messina, at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The microclimate is influenced by sea breezes between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, with pronounced day–night temperature variations that promote the aromatic development of the grapes.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and some of its vintages have received ratings and recognition from guides and critics; praise has appeared in publications and among retailers.
