The "2nd de Pez" is the second wine produced by Château de Pez, one of the oldest and most renowned estates in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. This wine is designed to offer an experience that reflects the style and quality of the estate, but with greater accessibility than their Grand Vin. Château de Pez, with its long history and reputation for producing robust and complex red wines, is committed to creating blends that best express the unique terroir of Saint-Estèphe.

The "2nd de Pez" is produced to the same high standards as the first wine, using grapes from the same vineyards. The varietal composition typically includes a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc and, at times, Petit Verdot, reflecting the classic Bordeaux blend that characterizes the region's wines. These varieties are grown on gravel and clay soils, ideal for quality viticulture, giving the wine structure, depth and the ability to age gracefully.

The vinification of "2nd de Pez" involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by aging in French oak barriques for a period that can vary but is generally around 12-18 months. This maturation process helps to integrate the tannins and develop the aromatic complexity of the wine, without overpowering the fresh and lively fruit that characterizes it.

Visually, the wine presents itself with a deep ruby red color. On the nose, "2nd de Pez" offers a complex bouquet, with notes of red and black fruits, such as cherries, blackberries and cassis, enriched by nuances of spices, chocolate and a light hint of tobacco and cedar, evidence of its passage in wood .

On the palate, the wine is robust yet balanced, with ripe, well-integrated tannins supporting rich fruit expression and a solid structure. The acidity is lively, helping to keep the wine fresh and dynamic. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant return of the fruity and spicy notes perceptible on the nose.

Ideal as an accompaniment to red meats, game, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses, the "2nd de Pez" from Château de Pez is an excellent choice for those who wish to explore the typicality and elegance of Saint-Estèphe wines, offering a tasting experience that combines tradition and accessibility.
