The Rhum Habitation Velier Last Ward 2009 is an intriguing distilled spirit rich in history, originating directly from Barbados. Originally produced at the Mount Gay distillery, founded in 1703, this edition was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2018, after nine years of maturation. It is a very special rum, as it reflects the use of traditional pot-still alembics, imparting the spirit with a particularly intense and complex aromatic profile.
In the glass, the Last Ward 2009 presents a dark amber color, bright and inviting. On the nose, it unveils a rich aromatic range, with notes of ripe fruit, sweet spices like vanilla and clove, and hints of dark chocolate and tobacco. On the palate, the experience is equally rich, with a soft texture that perfectly balances the warmth of the alcohol. The flavors of caramelized fruit blend with those of nutmeg and honey, concluding with a long and pleasantly persistent finish.
This rum is ideal for lovers of high-quality and complex spirits, perfect for sipping neat, perhaps accompanied by a piece of dark chocolate to best enhance its characteristics.
